Nov 18: Give your garden new life
Has your well-designed garden become a jungle, or have you suddenly realized that your garden has grown without a plan and is now difficult to maintain? Or maybe your tastes have changed. Wed Nov 18, 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Center for Urban Horticulture, Linelle Russ (CPH, Morning Dew Gardens) will teach design principles, pruning techniques, and soil and weed management plans that will simplify maintenance and keep your garden attractive over the long haul. Nov 30: Montlake Fill birder reads from new book at free reception
Connie Sidles visits the Montlake Fill almost daily in search of birds. She has led field trips there for two years. Please join us as she reads from her new book, In My Nature: A Birder's Year at the Montlake Fill, in the Miller Library Monday, Nov 30, 6:30-8:00 pm. This free public reception includes light refreshments.

The Seattle Chinese Garden at South Seattle Community College will offer free, guided tours the second Saturday of every month, March-October.
Tours begin at 10:00 am at the Chan Education Center at South Seattle Community College (6000 16th Avenue SW, north parking lot entrance) with a slide presentation and discussion of the significance of gardens in Chinese culture. The tour then moves outside to the garden site...

City Chickens 101

Learn the most important considerations in caring for a small flock of hens in limited space, including chicken physiology, behavior, health, nutrition, housing and city regulations. This class also covers the wide variety of chicken breeds. Questions are encouraged and you will leave this class with the knowledge you need to know to start raising chickens in your own backyard.
