Fall
Planting for
Healthy Plants Next Summer
Autumn
is one of the best times to plant trees, shrubs and perennials.
Fall planting gives your plants a head start for spring. Cooler
air and warm soil help plants develop strong roots ahead of
our dry summers. Healthy roots make for more drought-tolerant,
disease-resistant plants. Plus, when the fall rains return,
you can take advantage of ‘free’ water instead of using your
hose. In the meantime, regular deep waterings will assure
them to be off to a healthy start! . September to early October
is also the optimal time to be seeding lawns or covercrops
in your garden.
