Now
Is The Time for Natural Weed Control!
Concern
Weed Prevention Plus prevents annual weeds from growing
in flower and vegetable beds, around trees and shrubs and lawns
for 4 -6 weeks. Reapply as needed. Weed Prevention Plus is
100% natural corn gluten. Garden Weed Preventer prevents new
weeds from growing but does not kill existing weeds. Corn Gluten
contains a naturally occuring substance which inhibits the
growth of the seed's tiny feeder roots. This causes the weed
seedlings to die before their roots ever have a chance to become
established. Remember, this natural chemical barrier will
also prevent desired seeds from developing also, so take care
when planting flower and vegetable seeds. Do not use on grass
that has been recently seeded as it may inhibit the germination
of the new seeds. Weed
Prevention Plus is safe for people, pets and wildlife.
Persistence
is key to using Corn Gluten effectively. The more years you use
corn gluten, the better weed control it exhibits. Corn Gluten
is also a good natural source of Nitrogen, which is great for
helping to green up your plants. Corn Gluten can also be used
with mulch for even better weed control. Apply the Corn Gluten
after you put the mulch down to help prevent weeds from germinating
in the mulch.

Easier to Prevent Disease Now,
Than to Cure it Later!
Fungonil -
A good all-purpose fungicide that is usable on a wide variety
of plants including edibles and ornamentals. Fungonil controls
anthracnose, black spot, blights, mildew, rust and other diseases.
Infuse -
A good systemic fungicide (the plant absorbs the ingredients
and protection comes from the inside out), that works to control
powdery mildew, rust, anthracnose (on Dogwoods) black spot and
more. Because it is a systemic, you do not want to use it on
edibles. Infuse works well in our climate because once the plant
takes it in, it can not be washed off by our rains.
Liquid
Copper - A great all natural fungicide
that can be used in organic gardening. Copper is useable on a
wide variety of plants including edibles. It's great to use on
plants that are susceptible to blights like Japanese Maples,
Dogwood, and Lilacs, and also helps to control powdery mildew
and black spot.
Serenade Garden Fungicide -
An organic bio-fungicide containing Bacillus
subtillis QST 713 for use on a wide variety of food crops,
vegetables, roses, flowers, ornamentals and lawns. Serenade
specifically targets fungi and bacteria that cause scab, grey
mold, powdery mildew, sour rot, downy mildew, and early leaf
spot, early blight, late blight, bacterial spot, and others.
Can safely be applied up to and including the day of harvest,
OMRI listed for organic growing. Non-toxic to beneficial insects.
Preventing Diseases: Whenever
possible, it is always a good idea to remove severely affected
foliage from a plant to help prevent the spread of
a disease. It's also a good idea to spray the ground around the
affected plant and destroy any old diseased leaves to prevent
further spreading or contamination.
If you're unsure whether you need to spray, or which spray would
work best for your particular situation, bring in several samples
of your plant problem to our Information Counter, and our
staff will help you pick just the right solution for you.
