Fall Sale Plant of the Week #2

Each week during our Fall Sale, we will highlight a favorite plant of one of Swansons' experts. This week is Aimée's pick. Scroll down for plant information, great pairings with this plant, and more information about Aimée, who is our Director of Marketing & Communications.

Plant of the Week

Perpetua® Blueberry

Aimée's Pick: Perpetua® Blueberry

Perpetua® is a wonderful double-crop blueberry from the Bushel and Berry™ collection of container-friendly berries. Dark green, glossy leaves, creamy white flowers, and red fall foliage make this compact plant a stunning centerpiece in a container. Best of all, Perpetua® is unique in that it produces both mid-summer fruit and a second crop of blueberries in the fall!

Height: 2'-5'
Width: 2'
Full Sun
Note: this blueberry is self-fertile but will produce larger yields if planted near a blueberry of a different variety.

This plant is 30% off during our Fall Sale, September 1-October 1.

Plant Pairings for Perpetua® Blueberry:

These pairings would work well in a container or planted directly into the garden.

Wells Delight Creeping Blueberry

This low, spreading edible blueberry has red-stemmed evergreen leaves that cover the ground like a mat. Great as a ground cover under blueberry bushes or to cascade over the edges of a pot.

Calluna Firefly Flowers 6 S.jpg

Calluna vulgaris 'Firefly'

Mauve flowers abound on this Heather in August and September and contrast with the golden hue of the foliage. Grows to 18" high.

Red Pearl Lingonberry.jpg

Red Pearl Lingonberry

Bright red new growth and shiny, evergreen leaves make this an attractive addition to a container. Autumn brings edible bright red fruit that can be eaten fresh or cooked into preserves or syrup.

Orange-Colored Sedge

A lovely evergreen grass with olive-green foliage that turns coppery orange as it matures. Great year-round interest in a container.
