I’ll let you in on a little gardener’s secret: late summer through early autumn is the perfect time for many kinds of garden projects, including incorporating edibles into the landscape. We are so lucky in the Pacific Northwest to be able to grow veggies nearly year-round. There are a wide variety of cool-season veggies for autumn and early-spring harvest and now is the best time to plant perennial edibles like berries as well.
Fall Festival at Swansons was October 22-23. This was a fabulous weekend event full of family fun! We filled our North Greenhouse with Autumn-themed kids’ activities and games, and even a few baby goats! It was a whirlwind of fun from tractor hay rides to Pumpkin Putt Putt to racing veggie cars to autumn arts and crafts.
September is Autumn Project Month at Swansons Nursery and we know that early autumn is the best time to tackle those planting projects you've been meaning to do. The air and soil are still warm but the rains are coming - a perfect balance for new and transplanted plants to grow, become established before winter, and thrive next year and beyond. We've been busy helping you with your autumn projects and now we're doing one of our own.
