With the recent cold and grey weather, we at Swansons thought it would be restorative to take a trip - albeit a virtual one - to the sunny climes of southern California. This is a peek at a visit to the renowned Lotusland gardens made by our Annuals and Indoor Plant Buyers, Liane and Mollie, this past August. We hope it leaves you feeling refreshed and even more ready for spring gardening!
It is fall at Wychwood with the beautiful autumn colours in all their glory. It will be quite a change to come home to see how my spring bulbs have grown. Yesterday was a busy day in the garden and when I leave I'll miss being able to do chores in my shorts and tank top. Peter had moved the grass the evening before so obviously the nocturnal Wallabies seem to have enjoyed munching on the grass clippings and leaving their calling cards (which I raked up!)
75 degrees today and Wychwood Garden continues to be beautiful now in the early autumn cycle. My biannual visits to the gardens have always been during the summer so it's delightful to see the brilliant autumn colours, and the Fagus trees are breathtaking! There are numerous roses in the garden and the hips are at their best now. I must find a Rosa Moyesii for their brilliant, elongated hips. Beautiful.
