Swansons offers the following list of rain garden resources. Not all rain gardens are built the same, location and soil texture will dictate the needs of each rain garden. We recommend researching rain garden planning, preparation and soil mixes before installing.


Seattle Public Utilities & King County Wastewater Treatment Division: Rainwise   -   700 million gallons    
Details on the RainWise program for Seattle homeowners with eligibility and rebate information. Other green infrastructure options also included.

The Garden Hotline
Website and hotline offers answers for rain garden questions or other gardening issues. Contact Monday through Saturday, 9am to 5pm.  

Washington State University   -   Rain Garden Handbook for Western Washington    
Handbook on locating, designing, building, planting and maintaining rain gardens. Plant selection lists by zone and sun/shade/water tolerance, guide on soil mixtures, infiltration rates and the do’s and don’ts of rain gardens.
