Fresh herbs are a great addition when making unique refreshing drinks. The alcohol in the drink boosts
the already delightful herbal flavor. Below is a list of common herbs used to enhance your favorite
cocktail, aperitif or liqueur. For more detailed information about each plant, please refer to the individual
cultivar signs or consult one of our Swanson’s nursery professionals.

SPEARMINT Mentha spicata
Great in a Mojito. Also the ultimate mint cocktail a Mint Julep; Bourbon, sugar, fresh mint leaves, and
crushed ice.

BASIL Ocimum basilicum
An additional layer with mint infused drinks. A subtle compliment in drinks with fruit juice or fruit
flavored brandies.

THYME Thymus vulgaris
Its savory flavor is perfect in a Martini. Try Lemon Thyme instead of a lemon twist.

ROSEMARY Rosmarinus officinalis
Works well with gin, vodka, tequila and white rum drinks. Try it in a Cosmopolitan or a Negroni.

TARRAGON Artemisia dracunculus
A nice complement to peach flavors.

SAGE Salvia officinalis
To die for in a well made Margarita!

SHISO Perilla frutescens var. crispa
Substitute for recipes with mint, like in a Green Tea Mojito.

CILANTRO Coriandrum sativum
Try in a fruity mango Daiquiri or add to lemon or lime flavored drinks.
