What do you do at Swanson's? Graphics and Marketing. I work with on-site signs and banners, advertising content and am part of our strategic marketing team.

Tell us a little about your professional background and other interests: I'm trained as a landscape architect, but in recent years I've focused primarily on graphic design, copywriting and marketing. A side specialty is ornamental and restorative pruning. I love sharing what the trees have taught me.

What was your first plant? Probably the potato on the windowsill of my 2nd grade classroom. I don't recall how successful it was.

What is your favorite gardening resource (book, website, etc.)? Gardening with Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest by Arthur R. Kruckeberg.

What is your favorite season? Fall: memories of the start of school, cross-country season and the end of the humid, Midwestern summer.

What is your favorite Seattle-area greenspace/park/garden? Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island.

Where in the world would you most like to visit? Japan (historic or rural sites).

What is your greatest extravagance? Periodic trips to the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

What is your favorite dish? Chicken Tikka Masala.

If you were a beverage, what would you be? If I am what I eat/drink: Keemun tea

What is your most marked characteristic? The birthmark on my... wait, don't post that!

Give us a quick gardening tip: Learn the value of repetition and masses rather than planting one of everything.
