This is our third “behind-the-scenes” blog post, where we share what it was like to bring each episode of our new Gooder Gardener video series to life. We’ll give you a glimpse of our experiences, inspirations, favorite moments, featured plants, and more.
Episode #3: The Influencer
This episode features our favorite atypical aspiring social media influencer, Dale. We love that he walks into a photosynthesis class, mistaking “photosynthesis” for “photogenic”. Turns out, he’s the best student in the class!
In the beginning, we see Dale rolling up to Swansons in a fun red car that was generously loaned to Swansons for filming by one of our veteran employees. Special thanks to Anne for letting us borrow your car for the day!
Jonathan, the employee who played Dale, couldn’t have been more of a natural fit. His comedic style was a great match, and it was too easy for Jonathan to make the character come to life. As a relatively new dad in real life, his dad jokes are already on point. Maybe this helped him make Dale so quirky and personable, too.
The chemistry between Dale and the other characters was effortless since the actors in this episode have all worked at Swansons together for years. Everyone was already comfortable before the cameras started rolling, and it made filming easy. There was laughter all around in between each take, and sometimes it took some effort to hold back laughing during filming.
